But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute
you. They shall deliver you up to the synagogues, and into prisons,
and before kings and rulers for my name's sake. It will fall on you to
give a testimony. Settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand
about what ye shall answer. I will give you the words and wisdom which
your adversaries shall not be able to refute or deny.
You shall be betrayed by parents, brethren, kinsfolks, and friends;
some of you shall they cause to be put to death. And ye shall be hated
by all men for my name's sake. But there shall not be a hair on your
head that will perish.
In your patience carefully guard your souls, and when ye see Jerusalem
compassed with armies, then know that the desolation is near. Then let
those who are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let those who are
in the midst of it get away; and do not let those out in the country
enter in. These are the days of vengeance, when all things that are
written will be fulfilled.
There shall be great distress in the land and wrath upon the people.
They shall fall by the sword, and shall be led away as captives into
all nations. Jerusalem shall be trodden down until the time of the
Gentiles is fulfilled.
There shall be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars.
